Gwydion are pure Portuguese metal! Their musical themes are inspired by their love of Celtic culture.
They recorded their first album, Ynys Mön, in 2007. They have performed on the RAGNAROK AASKEREIA’S TOUR in 2008 alongside Tyr, Alestorm, and Svarstot! They’ve also been featured on Metal Hammer’sBattle Metal, Volume 8: The New Blood compilation CD with the track, “The Turning of the Wheel.”
Their latest album, Veteran, is appropriately titled, in that the band weaved together a perfect soundtrack for riding into battle and swigging down a hearty drink at the pub afterwards. “Brewed to Taste Like Glory” is a perfect example of the latter, the opening bit setting up the atmosphere like a bar at which the band’s playing, and you’re a man needing to take a leak, but can still whistle along whilst in the bathroom.
Gwydion is perfect for fans of bands like Turisas, Korpiklaani, Finntroll, and Alestorm.
